Brief Biography

Billy Goodman is a modern troubadour, in the truest sense of the word. His repertoire is a spirited and original mix of his own compositions and carefully chosen covers, which all end up sounding like nobody else. His version of Lowell George's "Willin'", recorded flawlessly in one take, bends and twists the classic tune into something altogether new and captivating, featuring his stellar slide-guitar work and sweet vocal style. Original songs like "Love Is The Test" and "Over And Over Again" are deceptively simple slices of his personal life. The album ranges from the solo starkness of "Dark Was The Night" to the full-tilt rocking centerpiece "Hellride", a harrowing, musical biography of his late brother Mike. And this is the real music of Billy Goodman - songs about love, pain, addiction, faith, spirit and heart.

Billy's been living in Heidelberg, Germany for over 10 years now, by way of New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and England. He first started playing professionally at the age of 13, and along the way has played with such rock legends as Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna, Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane and Dave Mason from Traffic. Most recently, Billy accompanied the Hooters in Europe on their 2004 and 2005 tour as their opening act.

In late 2004, Billy traveled from Germany to Philadelphia to simply cut some rhythm tracks for his new album at Rob Hyman's Elm Street Studios. After a week of work, with backing support from all five members of the Hooters, Rob signed on to produce and mix the entire album at his facility. It was fast, fun and aimed to be a showcase of Billy's styles and vision. "Dark Horses" has easily proven to be Billy's best effort yet. And now he's back where he loves to be- playing on the road, singing songs of toughness and grace, making the kind of music that still matters.
